Get your BATCH on!

As you should know by now, I participate in Bountiful Baskets just about every week.  The standard basket is awesome and beyond that the "extras" each week can also be a great value.  On this particular week we opted for the case of tomatoes and what's better to do with 30 tomatoes then make a big BATCH of sauce?  Absolutely nothing.

Yum-o!

As per usual MacKenzie was in charge of the actual recipe and cooking method, I was just along to for the ride (and to help) so don't ask me for a recipe.

Start with a case of tomatoes...

Make a cross cut on the bottom of each tomato...

Drop the tomatoes in batches into boiling water, they are ready when the skin starts to peel off...

After boiling, immediately drop the tomatoes in ice water…

Peel off the skin and then (not pictured) scoop out the seeds from each tomato...

Make into tomato sauce!

I know there was red wine used, basic italian spices and anchovy paste?  Either way it was delicious.  We portioned the sauce into single serving bags and froze to use whenever we needed sauce.  Homemade is definitely better than store bought.  True Story.
