"Normal" Vegas

My latest work trip took me out to Lake Las Vegas (again). Amanda McCoy and I decided to get in a little fun on the strip before we headed out to the Loews Lake Las Vegas (about 30 minutes off the strip). We flew out Friday afternoon and I must say that is the perfect little schedule. Work from home on Friday morning, pack and get ready for the trip. Car service at 3pm, flight at 5pm land and be ready to go by 7:30pm local time. For this particular trip we decided to do Vegas like "normal" people. Our room was booked on Expedia (hello TI), we weren't invited guests at check in and we even took a cab from the airport. I must say I was pretty excited to experience Vegas the way normal people do. However...Vegas wasn't ready for us to be normal.

First of all there was NO line for a cab at the airport. It was 7:30pm on a Friday night in Las Vegas and there was no line. Awesome. Not sure why people always complain about that...it was a breeze. Then we get to the hotel (and wait in line like normal people) only to get upgraded to a BETTER suite then we'd already booked. What? We've never (ever) stayed at Treasure Island and all of a sudden we are getting upgraded? Ok, I guess this is normal....

Our room was amazing. The bathroom/closet space was unreal and perfect for me and Amanda to get ready. Always the planner I had packed a few bottles of liquor to save both time and money so we could get started as soon as we got there...and we did just that. We ordered room service (do normal people do that?) and we went to town getting ready. The theme of Friday night was opposite night. Amanda McCoy wore jeans and cute top - a far cry from her normal barely there outfit. In keeping with the theme I ditched my normal jeans and cute top and went all out with a little black dress! Look out....



For probably the first time in Vegas we had no set plans for the night. There were no arrangements made for VIP table service, bottle service or even our name on the list at a hot club. We were excited to be normal. Normal lasted about 5 minutes....no sooner had we stepped off the elevator then some guy approached us with wrist bands for free drinks and no cover for some club. Ok, fine, we'll think about it. Headed over to the lobby bar where the bartender hooked us up with amazing kettle lemon drop shots. Caught a cab (now that is definitely normal) and headed over to Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay. It was my first time at Foundation Room and it was AMAZING. We reverted back to our old ways and skipped the line with our VIP members only pin and went straight upstairs to take in the view.


As if it was completely normal we ended up meeting these guys who invited us to join their table and bottle service. We continued to party with them for a while enjoying free drinks and lots of dancing. From what I understand the night went on to include a limo transfer to The Bank at the Bellagio with table service (several bottles of Goose). McCoy and I woke up in the suite the next morning, checked for tigers in the bathtub (there weren't any), watched football and waited for our driver to come pick us up. Again, completely normal.

The rest of our work trip was pretty standard. Up early, work hard, play at night and repeat.
